Photographs are used in the painting process as they do not change expression nor lighting. As many as 20 photos have been incorporated into one painting, {12 in the example above, 2 in the example below}. For portrait quality, the face in the photo must be no smaller than a large thumb. On average an 18"x 24" painting takes 40 to 60 hours actual painting time; add drying time between layers for about 2 months from start to finish.
